Best Caving
What is the best cave/mine in oblivion ?
loot wise and experiance wise. ((I am a Mage if any one cares). Will try to give best answer. Also please give general location ex- north of anvil.
A Level 60? Must be on PC.. o_O
I’ve found Rockmilk Cave to be pretty fair with loot.. If anything, it’s got a fair amount of Black Bows you can sell back to the King of Leyawin for $100 a pop.. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about yet, go talk to the King of Leyawin and he’ll ask for help ridding the area of Black Bow Bandits.)
Anyway, Rockmilk Cave is a hideout for Black Bow Bandits.. If you have a low-level character, you’d prefer dealing with these dudes over marauders and other mages, as their main weapons are bows and you can easily dodge their arrows..
You can find Rockmilk Cave by taking the road straight north out of Leyawin.. You’ll come across a town on your right, called Water’s Edge.. Keep going a little more north and you’ll see it on your left, just off of that road..
Unless, of course, you want to go toe-to-toe with Mages instead.. Maybe you have Spell Absorption/Reflection spells, potions, armor or amulets you’d like to try out? Want to beat down some Conjurers and Necromancers? If that’s your preference, you can go to “Dark Fissure”..
To find Dark Fissure, fast travel to Back Waterside Stabels, just outside of Cheydinhal.. If you look on your map, you’ll see a road that runs southeast from there.. Take that road until it deadends at Harlun’s Watch.. Keep going southeast, toward the northern tip of Red River.. You’ll see two caves there (one called Vahtacen on the west side and the other is called Swampy Cave on the east side).. You need to head up that mountain behind Swampy Cave.. You can do so by staying on the long grass most of the way up.. Hopefully, you’ll get close enough to see it on your “nearby locations” that you can navigate to it, as it’s not on the top of the mountain but close to it..
There’s a mess of Necromancers in there and one of them may have a Black Soul Gem on them.. (Black Soul Gems are the only ones that contain a humanoid soul.) If you noticed that Altar outside, that’s where you can make them too.. For information on that, you can click this link:
