Orange spider with black diamond on back–what is it?
Last night on our back porch we found a rather LARGE orange spider with a black diamond shape on its back. I’ve looked on some websites and cannot find a pic. We live in central Ohio, if that helps any. I’m just wondering what it is and if we should be alarmed. Thanks!!
It sounds like an Orb Weaver, probably a Marbled Orb Weaver (Araneus marmoreus). You needn’t be worried about them. They aren’t aggressive, and it wouldn’t do much harm if it bit you, unless you were allergic to it’s bite.
