Caving Cave Passages

Myth of the Cave.. Plz Help?
I was wondering if someone would evaluate and explain the following passages from The Cave:
“The prison is the world we see with our eyes; the light of the fire is like the power of our sun. And the climb upward out of the cave into the upper world is the ascent of the mind into the domain of true knowledge.”
“For the prisoners, reality would consist of nothing but the shadows.”
The prison is the world we see with our eyes – our restrictions are governed by what we percieve.
The light of the fire is like the sun – the enquiring mind that fires man on to greater knowledge is the path to enlightenment.
And the climb out of the cave into the upper world is the ascent of the mind into the domain of true knowledge – through effort and perserverence man can overcome restraint and achieve enlightenment.
For the prisoners, reality would consist of nothing but shadows. – Those held captive by a restricted mind never truly see the ‘full picture’ but glimpses of what could be.
