Caving Patches
Temporary pleco cave ideas?
My moms car is broken until Wednesday and my pleco is in need of a cave. I don’t want him to get to stressed out in his new tank. The tank has live plants, little randomly placed patches of gravel(for easy cleaning..I’m going to get river rocks on wednesday), and hardly any places for him to hide. Could I use a large plastic cup or container?

Pvc tubing or joints, yogurt container, anything that is not clear, is not painted, and that can be secured from floating around the tank. Sometimes a makeshift cave is as close as the recycling bin.
if you are modifying a plastic container you have lying around the house, make sure that it has dull edges, you wouldn’t want to injure your fish.
I do highly suggest that you soak any type of plastic in hot (almost boiling) water before putting into your tank. This will help to reduce the, already minuscule, amount of leeching that occurs with plastics.
