Climbing Protection
Any Ideas on what might be wrong with my Transmission?
It is a 1989 Dodge Ramcharger w/ 318 motor and a 727 transmission. I have adjusted throttle position rod, the kickdown band screws (which will not torque to 72 in. lbs. it turns freely by hand until all threads are covered), and replaced the filter. Under light throttle it seems to slip shifting into 3rd, but not badly. Under power such as getting into traffic or climbing hills the engine hits over-rev protection and I have to let off to get it to shift into 3rd. I was able to correct some of the problem with all the adjustments, but cannot get it right. Any suggestions?
Something is broke on the band. Trans will have to be removed and disassembled to repair. Might as well have it rebuilt at that time.
