Caving Gear Helmet

Nottingham Adventure
Of course, Nottingham is the home of the original adventurer Robin Hood, but if donning a pair of green tights isn’t quite your style, then read on for our ideas for an adventure packed weekend.
Based just a 15 minute drive from Nottingham City Centre is the brilliant indoor karting circuit. As you fly around the track at a whopping 40 mph (which feels like 150 when you’re just centimetres from the track in a specially made kart) you’re heart will be bouncing and adrenalin flowing as your competitive streak shows sides you never knew it had! Turn up and drive for the hell of it, pitch against your mates or be part of a 2 and a half hour team race, using pit-stop strategies and F1 techniques to win the race. All helmets and safety gear are provided and there’s a great catering service for that essential race fuel. If you’re a group on a birthday, stag or hen party, you can book the whole track so it’s exclusively yours.
So, your stomach is back where it belongs, your heart has slowed down a little and you’ve laughed at your mates as they crash and burn off the track. What next? How about swinging from the trees of Sherwood Forest? Question is; will it be with the heroic grace of Robin Hood, or the clumsy laughs of Little John? The forest assault course is a fantastic and fun obstacle course through the tops of the forest trees, up to 40 feet high. You’ll face zip wires, tunnels, rope bridges and tarzan swings, not to mention new challenges and a chance to face your fear of heights! So go on, get out of your comfort zone and make like a gorilla!
Right, time to get wet, water babies rejoice! The National Water Sports Centre is a short hop from the city centre, and hiding in the middle of the 300 acres of stunning parkland is a man made white-water-rafting course. Thrills, spills and getting soaked to the skin are all on offer here, and as the course was designed to train Olympic canoeists, it’s not for the faint hearted. You’ll also find water skiing, wind surfing, kayaking, sailing and just about anything you can do on or in the water here.
Back on dry land, and by now we’re sure you’re eager for a little fun closer to the city. For an adventure of the Indiana Jones variety, check out the City of Caves. This maze of caverns and caves takes you right underneath the city and into the long-lost world of Anglo-Saxon cave dwellers. If you look hard enough, you might even spot one of the resident ghosts here, but be careful you don’t fall into the enchanted well!
